Tips for Senior Christian Dating
Single Christian seniors face a variety of unique challenges in the dating world but these challenges are all manageable. Single seniors also benefit from several advantages, including emotional maturity, financial stability and partners who know what they want. To help you get back out there in the dating world, I've come up with a few tips for senior Christian dating:
Take Your Time
Whether you're a suddenly a single Christian senior or just haven't found the right someone, the worst thing you can do is obsess over finding a relationship as soon as possible. It's common to feel anxiety over the prospect of growing older without a companion, but remember seniors become single every day for all sorts of reasons. You'll eventually find someone but it takes time.
If you fail to take your time, it's actually going to end up costing you more time. People can sense desperation and if you're obsessing over finding a relationship, it's going to be a big turnoff to the opposite sex. And to make it even worse, if you rush into the first relationship you can find, it might end up costing you a bit of lost time or even some unhappiness.
Pursue Your Passions
This tip is complementary to the last tip. Make sure you are still pursuing your passions and goals. It doesn't matter if it's horse back riding, art, reading or even stamp collecting, just stick with it! Age and being single are no excuses for becoming content and lethargic. Pursuing your passions is healthy and it builds your sense of self worth. On top of that, your future dates will find it attractive that you actively pursue your passions.
The Dating Game has Changed, But Not So Much You Can't Handle It
If it's been a while since your last date, be prepared for the dating game to be a little different than what you remember. Over the years dating has become more casual but serious relationships are still the same. These days people are more independent and date around longer to find the right match.
Let the Past Rest
It's common for senior Christian singles to feel guilty for dating if they have lost their spouse. You know that the person you used to be with wouldn't want you to live the rest of your life alone and lonely. Don't look at dating as replacing your past love; look at it as moving forward in your new life. You can treasure your memories while starting a new chapter.
Keep God in Your Life
Don't forget to keep God in your life. Single Christian seniors face all kinds of unique challenges, and a strong faith can make it all more manageable. It's easy to forget about God when everything is smooth sailing so make a conscious effort to keep Him in your thoughts.
